Sommershausen is the name of a homestead in the district of Ochsenhausen in the Biberach district in Upper Swabia .

Sommershausen is listed as a homestead in the list of places in the Biberach district . Sommershausen is located above east of the Rohrbach, which flows into the Dürnach near Wennedach , on the district road 7527 , which connects Reinstetten with Maselheim .

In 1548, when the rule of Hürbel was enfeoffed with high jurisdiction , Sommershausen appeared as their "accessory". Later, in a Hürbler document from 1690, two farms are listed under Sommershausen. These two farms were combined to form a dairy and in 1840, together with the Hürbel manor, property of the Kingdom of Württemberg was sold. In 1848 the kingdom sold Sommershausen to the royal chamberlain, Baron Wilhelm von König-Warthausen . After that there was a "Castle in the valley" and the "New Castle" in the district.

Church assignment

Sommershausen originally belonged to the parish Hürbel. In 1407 Sommershausen was parish off to Reinstetten. In 2012, Sommershausen was part of the pastoral care unit St. Benedikt Ochsenhausen in the deanery Biberach , on the evangelical side it belonged to the church district of Biberach and there to the parish of Ochsenhausen.

Sommershausen Castle

In Sommershausen there is a small castle that was built by the Baron von Koenig-Warthausen. The castle is a two-storey plastered building with a gable roof and a dwarf house , roof turrets and well-traditional furnishings. The walls were erected between 1900 and 1906, the built-in doors, windows, the staircase and the balcony railing are more than 250 years old. The castle has been privately owned by the Radtke family since 1978.
