Sonic Baby is the second album by the punk rock band Swoons from Wolfhagen in Hesse . The CD released in 1994 is the last one with the original line-up with two singers.
classification
The Swoons' second album is fundamentally different from their debut Klaus is dead from 1992. Even if Sonic Baby is still oriented towards melody-oriented punk rock and bands like the Ramones , the songs are more sophisticated, more complexly arranged and the sound quality is audibly better than two years earlier. Musically, tempo changes , the use of reggae elements or acoustic guitars stand out.
Numerous funny clips are characteristic: the song Starship Love-Affair begins with a sample from the television series Raumschiff Enterprise , the opener Swoons-Party with an excerpt from an old fitness program. With Oh, Liebling, there is also a German-language piece on the album.
The booklet is designed to be playful throughout. A comic is reminiscent of the photo love story of the youth magazine Bravo . There is an extensive collection of toys on the cover.
Overall, the band defines itself as a playful teen group. A positioning that was not always positively received by the critics. Sonic Baby is the last album of the Swoons in the original line-up with two singers.
