Nirkendorf is a district of Nobitz in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .

location

Nirkendorf is located east of Ehrenhain on Kreisstraße 203 and in the valley of the Spannergraben, a tributary of the Pleiße . The district is also located in the redeemed hill country around Altenburg .

history

The village with its 104 inhabitants registered in 2012 can look back on a first documentary mention of the settlement between 1181 and 1214. Around 1353 Nirkendorf was subject to interest payments to the Bergerkloster in Altenburg. Later the place belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which from the 16th century was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies due to several divisions in the course of its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar (1572 to 1603), Duchy of Saxony -Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826). When the Ernestine duchies were reorganized in 1826, the place came back to the duchy of Saxony-Altenburg. After the administrative reform in the duchy, it belonged to the eastern district (until 1900) and to the Altenburg district office (from 1900).

In 1880 there were 121 people living in 20 families and 17 houses. With the construction of the Altenburg – Langenleuba-Oberhain railway line, the Nirkendorfer viaduct was built over the Spannerbach valley . From 1995 passenger traffic on this route has been stopped. The bridge is now a monument.

From 1918 Nirkendorf belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920. In 1922 it came to the district of Altenburg . On July 1, 1950, Nirkendorf was incorporated into Ehrenhain . During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus Nirkendorf came as the district of Ehrenhain with the district Altenburg at the Leipzig district , since 1990 as a county belonged to Altenburg Thuringia and opened in 1994 Altenburger in the district of the country. With the incorporation of the community Ehrenhain with its districts into the community Nobitz, Nirkendorf became a district of the community Nobitz on March 8, 1994.
