Goldschau is a district of the municipality Nobitz in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .

location

Goldschau is located near the federal highway 93 and southeast of Saara on the edge of a spring basin at an altitude of 245 to 266 meters above sea level. At this height, Goldschau is the highest part of the Altenburger Land .

history

Goldschau was first mentioned in a document on November 24, 1158. The name comes from the Sorbian language and means something like cleared tree . In 1445 there were eleven farms. In earlier times there were three major fires in the place. The last major fire was on April 15, 1717. Everything else burned down except for two farms.

Goldschau belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which from the 16th century was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies due to several divisions during its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar (1572 to 1603), Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826). When the Ernestine duchies were reorganized in 1826, the place came back to the duchy of Saxony-Altenburg. After the administrative reform in the duchy, it belonged to the eastern district (until 1900) and to the Altenburg district office (from 1900). From 1918 the village belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920. In 1922 it came to the district of Altenburg .

On July 1, 1950, Goldschau was incorporated into Podelwitz . In 1953 the LPG Bundschuh was founded, which in 1957 joined the Podelwitzer LPG. During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus Goldschau came to the district of Leipzig as a district of the municipality Podelwitz with the district Schmölln , which had belonged to Thuringia since 1990 as the district Schmölln and was added to the district Altenburger Land in 1994. When the municipality of Podelwitz became part of the unified municipality of Saara , Goldschau became a part of this municipality on January 1, 1996, until it came to Nobitz on December 31, 2012.
