Runsdorf is a district of the municipality Nobitz in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .

location

Runsdorf is located 5 kilometers east of Gößnitz on the district road 514 in the Altenburg-Zeitz loess hill country .

history

The first documentary mention of the village took place from 1181 to 1214. The representatives of the place assume 1181. The original name "Rodwanistorf" is a Slavic-German mixed name with the designation "Dorf des Rodvan". In the Bosau monastery record book there is evidence that Runsdorf was originally a German settlement. Runsdorf belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies from the 16th century due to several divisions during its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar (1572 to 1603), Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826). When the Ernestine duchies were reorganized in 1826, the place came back to the duchy of Saxony-Altenburg. After the administrative reform in the duchy, it belonged to the eastern district (until 1900) and to the Altenburg district office (from 1900). From 1918 the village belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920. In 1922 it came to the district of Altenburg . The historic townscape has been greatly changed by the mining of lignite from 1861 onwards, as numerous houses were built. The lignite seam south of the town was mined in several small underground pits until the turn of the millennium (2000). In 1880 there were 25 estates, three Anspännergüter and one handgut with 129 inhabitants.

On July 1, 1950, Runsdorf was incorporated into Podelwitz . During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus Runsdorf came as a district of the municipality of Podelwitz with the district of Schmölln to the district of Leipzig , which had belonged to Thuringia since 1990 as the district of Schmölln and was added to the district of Altenburger Land in 1994. In 1953 the LPG Friedenswacht was founded, which later joined the Podelwitz LPG. The inn closed in 1984, and its first tap fair dates from 1618. The building of the school, which was closed in 1996, now houses the municipal building yard. The meeting place also organizes its events for the community area from here. When the municipality Podelwitz became part of the unified municipality of Saara , Runsdorf became a district of this municipality on January 1, 1996, until it came to Nobitz on December 31, 2012.
