Sophie Dessus

Sophie Dessus (born September 24, 1955 in Suresnes , † March 3, 2016 in Limoges ) was a French politician . She was a member of the National Assembly from 2012 until her death .

Dessus grew up in Paris but moved to Uzerche at the age of 19 to work as a farmer. In 1995 she moved to the Uzerche municipal council and was elected mayor in 2001. In 1998 she also moved to the General Council of the Corrèze department , where she became vice-president in 2008. In the parliamentary elections in 2007 she was the deputy of the socialist Martine Leclerc, who narrowly failed in the third constituency of the Corrèze department. In 2012 she was elected MP in the first constituency with 51.4%, inheriting François Hollande , who had become President.
