Soraya Jiménez Mendivil (born August 5, 1977 in Naucalpan de Juárez , † March 28, 2013 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican weightlifter .

Career

Soraya Jimenez Mendivil celebrated her greatest success at the 2000 Summer Olympics , where, contrary to all forecasts, she was able to win the gold medal in the weight class up to 58 kg with an output of 225.5 kg. This made her the first female Olympic champion in Mexico. In 2004 she ended her career.

She died of a heart attack at the age of 35 .
