Surbajny (German sorbene ) is a village in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in northeastern Poland . The place belongs to Gmina Zalewo in Powiat Iławski .
Surbajny lies in the moraine landscape of the Oberland , five kilometers southeast of Zalewo.
Sorbehnen was founded by the Teutonic Order as a hooked interest village . In 1874, the rural community Sorbehnen was the District peaks in county Morag assumed. As part of a regional reform (dissolution of the manor districts in Prussia), the manor districts of Kattern , Mitteldorf and Rombitten were incorporated into Sorbehnen in 1929 . The newly formed community Sorbehnen still belonged to the Kuppen district and existed in this form until 1945. In 1933 it had: 402 and in 1939: 367 inhabitants.
After the incorporation into the Polish state, Sorbehnen was renamed Surbajny and added to the newly formed Gmina Zalewo. Surbajny is also looked after by the Schulzenamt in Międzychód ( Mitteldorf ).
