Homestead in Sorna

Sorna has been part of the community of Dittersdorf in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia since December 31, 2013 .

geography

Sorna, a farm, and the forest houses near the farm are located on a flat and hilly plateau on the northern slope of the south- east Thuringian slate mountains . Bundesstraße 2 passes this settlement and is reached by a connecting road just before Krölpa .

history

This homestead, which was certainly the only one at that time, was first mentioned in documents in 1378. With the founding of the manor and the creation of a pond, a water mill was built. The owners of the estate changed often until Hans Erdmann von Seydewitz sold the estate to Georg Wolf I. von Tümpling (1672–1732) on December 23, 1699 .

Under his patronage, the Chursdorf church including the family crypt was rebuilt from 1722 to 1729. His son Christian Gottlob I (1705–1770) donated a bell with his name and coat of arms to the Chursdorf church. His son Heinrich Gottlob Wolf (1757-1814) built the second family crypt of those von Tümpling at the Chursdorf church. He is the wolf that appears in Goethe's diaries. The two cast iron plaques with the names and dates of the family members buried in the tombs hang in the church today.

  • In 1806 Sorna was devastated by the French, with all files, books and paintings in the yard being collected in a heap and burned.
  • In 1875 Sorna burned down again except for a corner of the manor house.
  • In 1877 Sorna became Majorat and until 1945 it was owned by the Tümpling family for 246 years.

On October 20, 1943, aerial bombs hit the homestead.

For decades the place belonged to the municipality of Chursdorf . When this was incorporated into Dittersdorf on December 31, 2013, Sorna became an independent district of the municipality of Dittersdorf.
