Soro Dorotei

Soro Dorotei (born April 22, 1951 in Belluno ) is an Italian mountaineer. He has opened around 150 climbing routes in the Alps , mainly in the Dolomites , including several initial winter and solo ascents. In 9 expeditions in the Himalayas, he climbed 6 eight-thousanders without using additional oxygen.

Life

He served as a non-commissioned officer (Maresciallo Capo, equivalent to the Oberstabsfeldwebel in the German Armed Forces) in the Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare). Since 1978 he has been a mountain guide, instructor and instructor for alpinism. In addition, from 1991, together with his wife Ornella and their children Andrea and Vittoria, he took over the management of the “C. Tomè” refuge on the Duràn Pass , between Agordo and the Zoldana Valley. He regularly organizes various treks in the Himalayas.

Ascents

Since 1983 he has also been traveling in the Himalayas . Among other things, he prepared for the big mountains through winter climbs. In this regard, the north face of Monte Pelmo or the "Via Ratti" on the Su Alto should be mentioned. The "Via Strobel" on the Rocchetta Alta di Bosconero stands out from the solo climbs . In nine 8000er expeditions he reached the peaks of Lhotse , K2 , Nanga Parbat , Manaslu , Annapurna and Broad Peak . It is worth mentioning the first repetition of the Bonington route in the Annapurna south face together with Benoît Chamoux .

In 1997 he took part in the mountaineering-scientific expedition "East-Lhotse" of the Kuratorium (Comitato) EvK2Cnr . In 2004 he was the vice-expedition leader of the alpine-scientific expedition of the same organization to K2. Also in 2004 under the expedition to Mount Everest led by Agostino da Polenza , which aimed to measure the height of the highest mountain on earth again.

On August 2, 2011, Soro Dorotei fell around 15 meters on a climbing tour with his wife in the “SuperSoro” route of the Torre Jolanda in the Moiazza Group, although roped, after a hook had loosened. He tore his pelvis and severely injured his head, was flown to Treviso , was in a coma for several days and was in danger for a long time. He himself opened the route years ago and his first name is also the second part of its name. (As of August 6, 2011)
