Silvio Borner (1996)

Silvio Borner (born April 24, 1941 in Kleindietwil ; legal resident in Rickenbach SO ) is a Swiss economist .

Life

Borner studied economics at the University of St. Gallen and graduated in 1966 with a licentiate . From 1966 to 1968 he was assistant to Walter Adolf Jöhr , and in 1969 he did his doctorate there . During his student days he joined the Swiss Zofingerverein . From 1970 to 1972 he was a Visiting Research Fellow at Yale University . In 1973 he was at the University of St. Gallen habilitated and in 1974 as extraordinary and 1976 full professor of economics called. From 1978 to 2009 Borner was a full professor of economics at the University of Basel . In 1987/88 he was dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and History and of the Faculty of Economics from 2007 to 2009 (founded in 1995).

He publishes columns (including in the Weltwoche and in the Basler Zeitung ) and books on economic and current topics.

Borner is married and has two children. His brother Walter Borner was CEO of Zimmerli Textil AG .
