sowi-online is an information platform for social science subject didactics that aims to promote the exchange between science and teaching-learning practice. The materials on teaching methods , the presentations on didactic controversies, blog posts and the refereed articles of the Journal of Social Science Education (JSSE) on social science topics are available free of charge to teachers, trainee teachers, students and anyone interested. The website is operated by the association sowi-online e. V. run on a voluntary basis by professors of political and economic didactics from various universities. The association is also the publisher of the Journal of Social Science Education (JSSE) .

sowi-online represents an approach aimed at integrating the social science subject didactics and promotes its further development. In doing so, sowi-online concentrates on political, economic and social didactics as well as relevant content and topics of political, economic and social education. sowi-online wants to overcome the boundaries and demarcations between these didactics, which stand in the way of pluralistic, problem-oriented and critical social science learning.

In technical terms, the social sciences core disciplines political science , sociology and economics are included in the social sciences . In terms of subject didactics, the focus is on political didactics (or didactics of political education), economic didactics (or didactics of economic education) and didactics of social sciences. Adjacent social and cultural science disciplines such as B. History , (social) geography , organizational research, consumer research, ergonomics or (social) psychology and educational science are added as well as the didactics of subject teaching depending on the problem and topic.

sowi-online is aimed at teachers, trainee lawyers, students, teacher trainers, educational politicians and the public interested in educational policy. sowi-online is also aimed at didactic specialists and educational scientists ; this includes the higher education didactic training of teachers for social science subjects as well as multipliers active in social science youth and adult education.

sowi-online eV is the publisher of the Journal of Social Science Education (JSSE), an international open access journal with a peer review process , which appears quarterly and freely available online. It is interdisciplinary and internationally oriented and deals with topics in the field of teaching and learning with a focus on social science education in a European context.
