The SpVgg Lindau 1919 eV is a football club founded in 1919 in Lindau (Lake Constance) .

history

The SpVgg (Spielvereinigung) Lindau 1919 eV was founded on August 1, 1919 as a subdivision of TSV Lindau by 1850 eV. The first football matches took place on the Lindauer Köchlinwiese .

In 1924 the club was renamed “VfL Lindau” and from 1946 onwards it was run as “SG Lindau”. In 1928 the “Köchlinwiese” sports field (former site at the corner of Schulstrasse and Reutinerstrasse) was inaugurated with a fence, changing rooms and washing facilities

In 1950 the name was again changed to "SpVgg Lindau", which is still in place today.

Between 1963 and 1978 the club played in the first amateur league Black Forest-Bodensee, at that time the highest amateur class in Baden-Württemberg (although Lindau is part of Bavaria). From 2002/03 the club played in the district league A. 2014 was relegated to the district league B, and in 2016 the return to the district league A.

Manuel Cifonelli has been head coach since the 2020 season. He succeeded Marco Mayer

On June 14, 1934, the new municipal stadium with two lawns and a surrounding athletics facility was inaugurated in Reutin .

It was built by the city of Lindau because the Köchlinwiese was no longer able to cope with the rapidly increasing number of people involved in sports and the space was also needed as a building site. To place the inauguration were Bayern Munich , German champion from 1932, and the SSV Ulm 1846 against. Bayern won 3-2 in front of about 2000 visitors.
