history

On April 19, 1897, 52 citizens, by accepting and signing the statutes, formed a cooperative under the company Friesoyther Spar- und Leihenskasse eGmuH, with its headquarters in Friesoythe. The first chairman of the supervisory board was the Altenoyther vicar A. Heuer (1897–1901). Hermann Thien, businessman from Friesoythe, Gerhard Glup, master baker from Friesoythe, B. Elsen, farm owner from Altenoythe, H. Cloppenburg, farm owner from Vorder-Thüle and Louis Wreesmann, landowner from Altenoythe were appointed to the board.

At the end of the 1900 financial year the balance sheet total had grown to 115,158.35 marks. There was already a reserve fund and a profit "per 1900" of 221.80 marks. In 1904, the savings and loan association enjoyed great popularity. The growing business activity already made it necessary to increase the working capital from 200,000 marks to 500,000 marks. In 1933 the cash register joined the Association of Oldenburg Agricultural Companies. Cooperatives eV in Oldenburg as a member and took up the business relationship with the Oldenburg Agricultural Bank, the new central institute. In 1945 the city of Friesoythe was totally destroyed. Until then, the savings and loan fund was housed in the HB Schepers company. The entire inventory fell victim to the flames and wanton destruction.

On April 20, 1954, construction of a new bank building began. From 1947 on, the savings and loan fund had relocated the business premises to the partially destroyed “Klostermannnsche Haus” in Moorstrasse. In 1967 the savings and loan fund merged with the Raiffeisenkasse Markhausen and the Raiffeisenbank Gehlenberg. In connection with the mergers, the name of the cooperative was now “Spar- und Kreditskasse eGmbH Friesoythe, Markhausen Gehlenberg”. In 1972 the bank merged with Raiffeisenbank Barßel. At the end of 1972 the total assets of the cooperative, which on the merger date amounted to DM 13.7 million, were already DM 33.9 million.

On September 22, 1978, the bank celebrated the inauguration of the new building on Kirchstrasse. In 1982 a new, modern bank building was built in Markhausen. At the same time as the construction work, the bank's administrative members were working on plans to convert the bank building in Gehlenberg. The new bank building in Markhausen was inaugurated on November 24, 1982. In 1986 the bank building in Barßel was expanded and renovated. On December 4, 1987, the converted building was consecrated by Pastor Bergman. In October 1988 the new board member Hermann Brandt from Esterwegen introduced himself to the members. In the spring of 1991, the Gehlenberg and Markhausen branches were each equipped with a cash dispenser and a bank statement printer. For the employees in Friesoythe, an employee parking lot was also built in Brakestrasse. In the autumn of 1993, the first unattended branch of the savings and loan association was opened in Thüle. In 1996 the bank in Hilkenbrook opened another unattended branch. ATMs and bank statement printers were also installed in Harkebrugge and Altenoythe this year. Furthermore, the main office in Friesoythe was rebuilt and renovated.

In 1997 the savings and loan fund eG celebrated its 100th anniversary. For the festive occasion, an anniversary brochure was published under the pen of former board member Heinrich Grote. In the brochure, Heinrich Grote shows the history of the savings and loan fund from 1897 to 1997.

In July 1999 Johannes Wilke succeeded Heinrich Grote as a member of the Management Board, who left on December 30, 2000. Hermann Brandt and Johannes Wilke thus occupied the board of directors of the savings and loan fund until the end of 2009. With the resolution of June 27, 2000, the company name was changed to the Spar- und Kreditskasse eG. On January 1, 2010, Nikolaus Hüls succeeded Hermann Brandt. To date, Johannes Wilke and Nikolaus Hüls have been managing the savings and loan fund eG.

In order to enable further funding in the region, the Spadaka Foundation was established in 2005. To this day, it supports numerous projects in the entire business area.

Further renovations followed in 2006. Here, the property including the Post AG building in Barßel was acquired, making it possible to add and convert the branch in Barßel.

The main office in Friesoythe was to be expanded in 2010 to include a new building on the neighboring property in Göken (the former bank property until 1978). A new real estate center as well as the network partners R + V Versicherung and Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall were housed here. After the topping-out ceremony in 2011, the completed new building was opened in July 2012 with an “open house”.

The first planning for the Heinfelde wind farm began in 2012. The Geno-Bürger-Windpark GmbH was founded in the course of the project development. It acts as a project developer and general contractor. The shareholders are the Spar- und Autovermietung eG in Friesoythe and the Volksbank Oldenburg Beteiligungs- und Dienstleistungs-GmbH in Oldenburg. In December 2016, the final approval under the Federal Mission Protection Act was granted. Construction of the wind farm began in March 2017. To ensure optimal operation of the wind farm, a full maintenance contract (Enercon partner concept) with a term of 20 years was concluded with the manufacturer of the wind turbines . All citizens of the city of Friesoythe and the municipality of Edewecht who live within a 1.5 km radius of the wind farm were able to participate. Participation takes place by subscribing to shares in Bürgerwindpark Heinfelde eG. The subscription capital is limited to EUR 4,050,000.00. Long-term loans from the Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank are used to further finance the project . The community wind farm Heinfelde eG went online in 2018.
