The Sparafeld is 2247 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Ennstal Alps . After the Admonter Reichenstein ( 2251 m ) it is the second highest point in the Reichenstein group and separated from it by the Wildscharte ( 1903 m ). In contrast to the Reichenstein, the Sparafeld can be reached on easy paths and is also a destination for demanding ski tours .
topography
The Sparafeld forms the easternmost point of a high plateau, the northwestern end of which is the Riffel ( 2106 m ) and the southernmost point of the Kalbling ( 2196 m ). The mighty Sparafeld east tower and - separated from it by the fingerscharte - the Sparafeldfinger rise in the east ridge to the Wildscharte .
Ascents
The normal route leads from the Oberst-Klinke-Hütte to the summit without difficulty . The path leads from the hut up to the Kalbling-Südgrat, under the west wall over to the Speikboden and further east to the summit.
The northern approach from the Goferhütte ( 978 m ) is longer . This approach already requires climbing grade I , and steep snow fields can also pose a danger here.
As on most of the Gesäuse mountains, there are numerous climbing routes on the Sparafeld, such as the south pillar (V-), the brittle east ridge from the Wildscharte (III +) or various climbing routes on the NE pillar.
Ski tour
The Sparafeld can also be climbed on skis from the north side. The ascent leads from the Hintergoferalm over the Goferschütt into the funnel below the Sparafeld and on over steep slopes to the summit. However, this tour is considered to be very difficult and there is sometimes a risk of falling. The tour along the normal route from the Oberst-Klinke-Hütte is easier.
