The Kreissparkasse Heinsberg , founded in 1898, is the largest regional credit institute in the Heinsberg district . The head office is in Erkelenz . The full company name according to the commercial register is Kreissparkasse Heinsberg - Zweckverbandssparkasse des Kreis Heinsberg and the city of Erkelenz .

Today's Sparkasse was created after the municipal reorganization on January 1, 1974 through the merger of the Kreissparkasse of the Selfkantkreis Geilenkirchen-Heinsberg and the Kreis- und Stadtsparkasse Erkelenz to form the Kreissparkasse Heinsberg. The carrier of the Kreissparkasse Heinsberg is the savings bank association of the district Heinsberg and the city of Erkelenz.

The Kreissparkasse Heinsberg and its sponsors are members of the Rheinischer Sparkassen- und Giroverband, Düsseldorf, and are affiliated with the German Sparkassen- und Giroverband eV in Berlin.

Kreissparkasse Heinsberg reported total assets of EUR 3.653 billion in the 2019 financial year and customer deposits of EUR 2.62 billion.
