The Spechtenseehütte is an Alpine Club hut belonging to the Stainach section of the Austrian Alpine Club (ÖAV).
Location and surroundings
The hut is located in the Wörschachwald district, part of the municipality of Pürgg-Trautenfels , on the southern edge of the Dead Mountains , 250 meters northeast of the Spechtensee .

The hut was built in 1960, expanded around 1970 and rebuilt in 2000 with a cellar.
ways
Private cars can drive up to the parking lot in front of the hut. The hut can be reached in two hours from Wörschach through the Wörschachklamm . The way from Stainach over the Sinirboden takes two and a half hours of walking. The transition to the Liezener Hütte takes three hours to walk. It is almost as long on the way to the Hochmölbinghütte . The hut offers a starting point for tours in the mountain range north of Wörschachwald, which extends from the Hechlstein ( 1814 m ) over the Bärenfeuchtmölbing ( 1770 m ) to the craggy Hochtausing ( 1823 m ).
The hut and the nearby Spechtensee are popular excursion destinations. The path around the lake, which leads through a moor and water lily stocks, is ideal for a walk . There is an archery course in the area of the hut .
