Ernest Klee , partly also Ernst Klee (born December 13, 1888 in Osek ; † September 23, 1973 in Hindelang , Allgäu ) was a Sudeten German playwright and poet as well as a teacher for the blind and deaf-mute. He also worked as a journalist for the Reichenberger Zeitung and for Die Zeit . In 1919 he received the Kanka Prize and in 1969 the Polzen-Neisse-Netherlands Landscape Prize. He published poems , dramas and librettis .

August Sauer (1855–1926) judged Klee to be

"[D] he most capable one of the impetuous pushers who are presently our consolation and our hope, [...] an upright man of the best national sentiments, indomitable and firm. With a keen eye, he observes the advantages and damages of his people, whom he loves so dearly, and depicts the events vividly in compelling figures. The eternal starry sky arches over his seals and he irresistibly pulls us up to his ideals with his fresh temperament. "

Klee lived in Starý Harcov , a district of Liberec , until the Germans were expelled from Czechoslovakia , after which things became very quiet around him . Most recently he lived in Geislingen an der Steige . He died while on vacation in Hindelang in the Allgäu.
