from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Specimen Corporationum Cognitarum - The encyclopedia of connections (SCC) is a first time in 2000 on CD-ROM published digital directory , in the extinct and still existing student and student connections are included.

content

The SCC is published by the dentist Hartmut Jess, who has been dealing with the history of student associations as a barefoot historian since the 1970s . The first edition (2000) appeared in cooperation with the Association for German Student History (GDS). For a second, updated and expanded edition (2005), tens of thousands of color cards were included . In 2010 a third edition appeared with information on around 15,000 connections. The connections are presented with coats of arms , compasses , colors , chronicle, motto and references. It contains the connections of the German-speaking area as well as those outside it, for example the North American fraternities and sororities . In book form, the SCC would have a volume of around 30,000 pages.

For many student historians, the SCC is a first point of contact to look for the whereabouts of expired connections and a way to determine the type and number of connections at a university location at a certain point in history. It is used as an aid in many studies on university and student history, but is also recognized as a source in general historical, social and scientific-historical contexts. The SCC made it possible, among other things, to view and classify the extensive Lutz Studentica collection of the LWL open-air museum in Detmold , which enabled subsequent archiving.
