The Spertental is a southern side valley of the Brixental in Tyrol . The Aschauer Ache flows through the Spertental .
Location and landscape
The Spertental has a length of about 8 km. At Kirchberg in Tirol (837 m above sea level) it joins the Brixental .
The landscape is framed by soft and magnificent mountain shapes. The highest peaks, the Große (2,366 m) and Kleine Rettenstein (2,216 m), as well as smaller elevations, form a protective wall of the valley.
The Aschauer Ache rises at the foot of the Großer Rettenstein and flows in the direction of Kirchberg and, also under the name Reither Ache , continues to Reith near Kitzbühel and then flows into the Kitzbühler Ache near St. Johann in Tirol .
The main town of the valley is Aschau im Spertental. The small village has around 400 inhabitants. The hamlet has its own branch church (Expositur) to the Holy Cross of Christ as well as its own school and a parish hall. The place also has its own band and the volunteer fire brigade provides fire protection and general help. The main town of Kirchberg is at the entrance to the valley. The two places are connected by the Spertental Landesstraße (L 203).
At Aschau, the Spertental branches off into the Oberen Grund and Unteren Grund , with both narrow pass valleys leading to the Salzburg Pinzgau near Neukirchen am Großvenediger (Geigenscharte into Dürnbachtal ) and Hollersbach (Stangenjoch into Mühlbachtal ). This valley head is the Spertental-Rettenstein nature reserve .
