The Spiegelbach is a brook in the southern Palatinate ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). It arises as a right derivative from the Queich , which rises in the Palatinate Forest , and thus has no source of its own. It flows into the Sondernheimer Altrhein , the former left branch of the Rhine , now called Michelsbach .
After a devastating flood in 1745, in which the old mills supplied by the Brühlgraben and Altbach brooks were flooded, it was decided to lead a drain from the Queich to Bellheim in order to supply the new mills with water evenly.
From the dividing weir on the border between Ottersheim and Knittelsheim , the Spiegelbach flows for 9.2 km until it flows into the Sondernheimer Altrhein.
