Playing goes to school

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The initiative Playing makes schools is a competition for primary schools. The aim of the initiative is to promote classic gaming. In 2007, the association Mehr Zeit für Kinder and the Transfer Center for Neurosciences and Learning developed the concept for the competition.

history

In 2007, a pilot project was started in Hesse with 172 participating primary schools in the area of the state school offices of Darmstadt-Dieburg , the city of Darmstadt , Wetteraukreis and Hochtaunuskreis , which was expanded in 2008 to the entire federal state of Hesse as well as Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg and was designed for 6,000 primary schools. In 2009, the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia was added and the prize money was 750,000 EUR, of which a total of 200,000 EUR was available for 46 primary schools and 4 libraries in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2010, nine federal states were allowed to participate: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin , Brandenburg , Hamburg , Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony . A nationwide tender is planned for 2012.

Course of the competition

The competition takes place annually. To participate, schools create a concept of how they can integrate classic games into everyday school life and make the games accessible to children. This will be assessed by an expert jury. The winning schools will receive a selection of games as a prize in order to be able to set up a playroom. In 2010, games worth EUR 750,000.00 were awarded to 205 primary schools. The transfer center for neurosciences and learning examined this in advance for its educational value. The education ministries of the federal states involved support the initiative. The games are donated by member companies of the German Association of the Toy Industry, including Märklin , Ravensburger and the Tipp-Kick manufacturer Edwin Mieg OHG. By 2010, 800 playrooms should be set up in primary schools.
