The Spirig Pharma AG , headquartered in Egerkingen is an internationally active Swiss pharmaceutical company with a focus in dermatological products range.

The company develops, produces and sells, among other things, sunscreens , skin protection and skin care products , products for the treatment of skin diseases such as acne , eczema , neurodermatitis and dermatomycosis. At the end of 2012 it was announced that the Swiss company Galderma Spirig was taking over.

In 2011, Spirig Pharma generated sales of CHF 98 million (excluding the generics business).

history

The company was founded by Hugo Spirig in 1948 as a sole proprietorship as a pharmacy at the Kreuz in Olten. In 1969 he moved the headquarters to Egerkingen and the company was converted into a stock corporation in 1974 . In 1984 the founder sold the majority of the shares to the management through a management buy-out . As a result, Spirig Pharma expanded through the establishment of various subsidiaries at home and abroad and grew into the market leader in the field of dermatology in the Swiss pharmaceutical market. Furthermore, presented Spirig Pharma on behalf various generic products for the rheumatism - pain - inflammation , stomach - intestinal and heart - circulatory ago. The generics area was outsourced to Spirig Healthcare AG in 2011 (spin-off), but has since been sold to Stada .

At the end of 2012 it was announced that the Swiss company Galderma Spirig was taking over. At the time, Galderma was a joint venture between Nestlé and L'Oréal ; since July 2014, Galderma, and thus Spirig, has been fully part of the Nestlé Skin Health SA division

At the end of August 2017, Nestlé announced that it would gradually discontinue production at the Egerkingen site within the next 12 to 18 months and relocate it abroad.
