Spittalfield is a Scottish town in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . It is located in the traditional county of Perthshire around nine kilometers east of Dunkeld and 18 kilometers north of central Perth .
history
In the immediate vicinity of Spittalfield there are various testimonies to the prehistoric settlement of the region. There are two cairns to the west and north , which were probably built during the Bronze Age . To the northwest there are two basements that are protected as ground monuments. A probably Bronze Age standing stone with a height of 1.8 meters is 1.4 meters wide and 0.8 meters deep. During the Roman occupation of Britain , Roman troops advanced as far as Perthshire. Two kilometers southeast of Spittalfield on the Tay was a Roman fort at that time , which served as a border fortification.
Spittalfield was in 1766 as a planned community around a Anger created. The village developed with weaving. The villa Gourdie House was built near the village in the 18th century .
As part of the 1971 census survey, Spittalfield had 121 residents.

The A984 leading from Dunkeld to Coupar Angus forms the main thoroughfare of Spittalfield. In the west the A9 ( Polmont - Scrabster ) and in the east the A93 leading from Perth to Aberdeen can be reached within a few kilometers.
Since 1856 there was a rail connection in Murthly, three kilometers away on the opposite bank of the Tay. However, the station along the Perth and Dunkeld Railway was closed in 1965.
