The Spitzkofel is a 2717 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Lienz Dolomites in Tyrol . It is considered the local mountain of Leisach . The botanist David Heinrich Hoppe was probably the first tourist to reach the summit, which has always been visited by locals, on August 1, 1798. Franz Keil made the next known touristic ascent around 1855.
Ascent
The normal route to the Spitzkofel leads from the Klammbrückl parking lot through the Kerschbaumertal to the Kerschbaumeralm Schutzhaus and then over the Hallebachtörl into the Hallebachtal, where the path runs east of the Kühbodentörl and the Kühbodenspitze and thus opens up the summit from the south. The last part of the path leads over a secured path (grade I on the UIAA scale) over the Linderhütte to the summit. The ascent overcomes a difference in altitude of around 1600 meters, but in summer you can usually spend the night on the Kerschbaumeralm mountain hut.
