The Weissenstein sports hall is one of the larger sports hall complexes in the Bern agglomeration, which was completed and opened in 2014.

history

The Weissenstein sports hall was built to reduce the shortage of sports halls in and around Bern. The project was initiated by the city of Bern and the municipality of Köniz. The cost of construction should be around CHF 27 million. However, the cost estimate was exceeded by three percent. The complex with two triple sports halls was planned by the Zurich architects Penzel.

Operation is ensured by SpoHaWe AG . The stock corporation is owned 50% each by the city of Bern and the municipality of Köniz.

construction

The competition hall with a capacity of 2000 people is located in the basement of the complex. The second triple sports hall is located on the upper floor and is slightly offset from the competition hall.

use

In principle, different schools from the city of Bern and the municipality of Köniz use the two triple sports halls. It is also used by the Unihockyclub Floorball Köniz , Volley Köniz and Futsal Minerva for training and championship purposes.

reachability

The sports hall can be reached by bus number 17 , Hardegg Vidmar stop, from Bern main station . The hall can be reached by tram with line 6 , Fischermätteli stop.

The parking space is limited and chargeable. It is recommended to travel by public transport.
