The LAK-17 is a high-performance glider for the 15 m / 18 m class from the manufacturer UAB Sportinė Aviacija in Lithuania.
construction
The LAK-17 is a mid-decker in fiber composite construction with flaps, retractable landing gear and water ballast tanks in the wings. It had its maiden flight on July 9, 1992 in Prienai and is certified according to JAR22. In 2013 the LAK-17b "Mini" was presented, which made its maiden flight on May 6, 2013 with a wingspan of only 13.5 m. In 2014 the LAK-17b with a wingspan of 21 m was presented (first flight May 30, 2014). This makes the LAK-17 the only known glider whose wingspan varies between 13.5 m / 15 m / 18 m and 21 m. However, neither the “Mini” nor the version with 21 m wingspan are included in the type certification (as of October 2014).
