The Sporting Clube de Timor is an East Timorese sports club . Based in Dili , it is the 85th branch club of Sporting Lisbon .
history
The association was founded on May 25, 1938. The first president was Jaime Montalvão de Carvalho , further founding members were José António Montalvão dos Santos e Silva and Jacinto Montalvão dos Santos e Silva . In the 1950s, Sales Luís was the club's president. In 1960, the clubhouse with sports rooms, offices, a restaurant, a basketball and volleyball field and a ballroom for 600 people, in which films were also shown.
During the Indonesian occupation, Carlos Afonso Henriques united a sports group in 1984 and created a new sports center to take part in regional soccer tournaments with a junior team.
After the Federação Futebol Timor-Leste was established after the Indonesians left, the SCT was re-established in 2003. The politician Zacarias da Costa became the new President of the General Assembly . A new clubhouse with a restaurant and training rooms was built. The president is Jaime Santos , Vice-President Lurdes Bessa , President of the Accounting Council Edmundo de Carvalho , Sports Director Norberto Cortez , Directors Filipe Silva and Tony Lopes . First, a football department was established.
Football department in independent East Timor
In 2015, Sporting came last in the qualifying round for the newly founded LFA Primeira Divisão in Group D and therefore had to go to the Segunda Divisão in the 2016 season . Here they reached fourth place out of six teams in Group A, which is why they also played in the second division in the 2017 season. Here they came in 5th place in Group B. In the Liga Futebol Amadora Segunda Divisão 2018 they came in 3rd place out of 12.
At the national cup Taça 12 de Novembro 2016 they were eliminated in the first round in 2016 against YMCA FC . In 2017 they failed in the second main round and in 2018 in the first.
