history
The pass was built during the Second World War by the eponymous farmer Nicolaas Andries Rymert Spreeth (1904–1975). He owned the Ubib farm at the foot of the pass. In order to improve the supply of his farm, he built the pass up to the Namibgrens farm on the Great Edge step . Spreeth built the pass largely with his own hands , with the exception of dynamite .
