action

Daniel Bartko's body is discovered in the Spreewald. Apparently he had stepped into a punch laid out by Polish poachers, then fell into the river and drowned. His wife reported him missing four days ago and now Detective Inspector Thorsten Krüger has to bring her the news of her husband's death. He finds the young woman relatively absent-minded and she doesn't seem overly surprised. During the autopsy it is found that Bartko drowned, but the iron was only put on later.

According to Kruger’s investigation, Bartko had not only messed with Polish fur hunters, but also with the locals. As a native of Sorbe, he protested against the marketing of the last domestic values and made many enemies. In his marriage, too, he did not find the right happiness because his father-in-law kept mocking him by saying that he would not get anything done and that he was actually not good enough for his daughter. In the end, Bartko even wanted to leave his pregnant wife for a Polish woman in whom he believed he had found true love.

While Inspector Krüger is getting an idea of the circumstances under which Daniel Bartko lived and suffered, his father-in-law is shot in the high forest. Bodo Tankmann is a district forester and while doing his job he came across a poacher. Tank man is seriously injured in the firefight and the Polish poacher is killed. After Tankmann regains consciousness, he admits that he wanted to prevent his son-in-law from simply leaving his expectant family. He knocked it down in an argument and then drowned it in the river. He wanted to use the iron to draw suspicion on the poachers.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said: “'The Dead in the Spreewald' starts like a thriller, but the puzzles that the film poses are different from those that revolve around the search for murder. The human dramas cover the thriller like snow covers the landscape of the Spreewald and they condense into an allegory of the time after the fall of the Berlin Wall. "" This ZDF television film is the ultimate autumn film. Everything revolves around saying goodbye. Winter as a time of action extends the imagery: It's about being emotionally frozen and about tentative attempts to thaw. "

At Kino.de wrote: “The key of the film is mostly dark and mystical, the fairytale forest on the Spree is the perfect backdrop; in contrast, the past is shown in soft summer colors. The director and his cameraman Martin Farkas find fascinating images in which they sometimes work with cross-fades. Music and sound design as well as many dialogues underline the impression of the fairytale-poetic. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm said: "The dreamy, labyrinthine landscape offers the perfect backdrop for a complex flashback puzzle." Conclusion: "Poetic, quiet crime thriller with strong staff."

Josef Seitz at Focus.de didn't say a lot either and wrote: “With all the cooking shows and super talents and TV testers, viewers can forget that television can be good too. Really good, like the thriller 'Der Tote im Spreewald' ”.
