Springdale is a small town in Washington County, Utah in the United States . According to the 2000 census, Springdale has 457 residents. It is located directly at the entrance to Zion National Park and offers accommodation and shopping for national park visitors.
history
The place of today's Springdale was first settled by Mormons in the fall of 1862 . Initially, however, no community system of its own developed; residents went to nearby Rockville to go to church and shop . The first public building used as a church and school opened in Springdale around 1885, and a separate church building was built in 1897.
Springdale went through a change that is still felt today when the first groups of tourists arrived in town in 1917. In September 1920, the Mukuntuweap National Monument , the forerunner of what would later become Zion National Park , was established. As a result, a power grid and gas stations as well as accommodation and shops for tourists were set up in the village. In 1959 Springdale was officially registered as a parish.
