Washington County is a county in the state of Utah in the United States . The county seat is St. George .

geography

Washington County covers an area of ​​6,293 square kilometers, of which 8 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the counties: Iron County , Kane County , Mohave County, Arizona, and Lincoln County, Nevada. In the eastern part of the county is part of the Zion National Park .

history

Washington County was founded in 1852. It is named after the first President of the United States, George Washington .

Washington County had a population of 90,354 people as of the 2000 census . There were 29,939 households and 23,442 families. The population density was 14 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 93.57% White, 0.21% African American, 1.47% Native American, 0.45% Asian, 0.42% Pacific Islander, and 2.24% other races Groups; 1.65% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 5.23% of the population.
