Emery County is a county in the state of Utah in the United States . In 2010, Emery County had 10,976 residents. The county seat is Castle Dale .

history

Emery County was named after Governor George W. Emery , the governor for the Utah Territory (1875).

geography

Emery County covers an area of ​​11,555 square kilometers; of which 25 square kilometers are water. The biggest place is Huntington's . The county is bordered clockwise by the counties: Carbon County , Grand County , Wayne County , Sevier County, and Sanpete County .

The Green River forms the eastern boundary of Grand County . The Wasatch Plateau, a mountainous area, forms the western limit of Sanpete County . This is the region where most of Emery County's residents live. Range Creek (Colorado River) flows through the Book Cliffs .

As of the 2000 census, the population of Emery County was 10,860. There were 3,468 households and 2,798 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 95.64% White, 0.18% African American, 0.65% Native American, 0.31% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, and 1.87% other races Groups; 1.24% were from two or more races.
