Uintah County is a county in the state of Utah in the United States . The county seat is Vernal , which is also the largest town in the county.

history

Uintah County was founded in 1880. It got the name from the tribe of the Ute Indians. These lived in the valleys of the mountains.

Uintah County's population was 25,224 as of the 2000 census . There were 8,187 households and 6,541 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 87.73% White, 0.11% African American, 9.38% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, and 1.05% other races Groups; 1.43% from two or more races.
