The Springfield Capitols were an American ice hockey franchise of the All-American Hockey League based in Springfield , Illinois .

The Springfield Capitols began playing in the All-American Hockey League as an expansion team for the 1988/89 season . In their only season, the team finished second after the regular season and won 21 of their 35 games. When the AAHL was dissolved after the season, the Springfield Capitols also stopped playing.
