All-American Hockey League

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The All-American Hockey League was a North American Hockey - Minor League , which existed from 1986 to 1989. The league followed on from the 1972 to 1986 amateur league Continental Hockey League .

history

The Continental Hockey League initially operated exclusively in the Chicago area as a pure amateur league with junior players.

In 1986, the All-American Hockey League , which was a professional minor league, was founded as the successor league of the Continental Hockey League . This only existed for three years. One of the reasons was competition from the East Coast Hockey League , which began playing in 1988 and which three of the AAHL teams joined as founding members.
