Central Hockey League (1931-1935)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Central Hockey League (CHL) was a North American ice hockey minor league , which was founded in 1931 and dissolved in 1935.

history

The Central Hockey League was founded in 1931 and was in competition from the start with the American Hockey Association , which had already started five years earlier and from which they could poach the Minneapolis Millers and St. Paul Saints . In the 1934/35 season , however, the two leagues came closer together, developed a common game plan and played games between the teams of both competitions. The reason for this was that only three teams remained in the Central Hockey League. For the 1935/36 season, the CHL and the AHA finally merged, with the game operations continued under the banner of the American Hockey Association and the teams from Minneapolis and St. Paul returned to the AHA.
