history

The Troy Sabers were accepted as an expansion team in the Continental Hockey League in 1982, in which they played until its dissolution in 1986 and whose champions they were in 1983, 1984 and 1985, three times in a row. Subsequently, the team took up the 1986/87 season as one of five founding members to play in the successor league of the Continental Hockey League, the All-American Hockey League . In their only season, the Sabers achieved exactly one point per game and finished third with 31 points after the regular season. The franchise was then merged with league rivals Dayton Jets and from then on played under the name Miami Valley Sabers .
