Squeeze Me Ahead Of Line is the debut album of the Berlin free jazz / mathcore band The Season Standard . It was released on July 11, 2008.
Style and reception
The band itself describes their style as a potpourri of mathcore , free jazz and contemporary funk . Sometimes it is compared with King Crimson and Sieges Even , the singing of Mathias Jähnig with that of The Mars Volta .
Tobias Hinrichs from Plattentests.de wrote about this balancing act between pop , jazz and progressive rock :
“This is what it should sound like if you throw a handful of self-accelerated bouncy balls inside a beehive with a high percentage of honey wine, in order to step over, under and through laser light barriers in the Jamiroquai slide - and be careful not to spill any of the precious mead. "
