The Regional Vocational Training Center (RBZ) HLA - The Flensburg Business School AöR (HLA for commercial training institute for short ) is a vocational school in Flensburg .

History and buildings

The school was founded in 1873 as a municipal commercial college - vocational schools of the city of Flensburg - business and administration . The building on the castle wall was built in 1929 on the spot where the Duburg once stood and was named Schloss-Duburg-Schule . A plaque on the building commemorates the Duburg. In addition to this building at Schlosswall 3, there is also the main building at Marienallee 5, where a large part of the school's operations takes place.

At times the school building of the former Marien Girls' School III in Schulgasse was also used for teaching, for example in the mid-1990s and around 2010. Since 2010, the Petri School in Apenrader Straße has also been used for teaching purposes .

School types

Vocational high school - specializing in economics

The general higher education entrance qualification is awarded through the Abitur certificate. In the course of attending school, the graduates acquire the technical college entrance qualification (school part) if certain conditions are met. Further subjects are economics (with a focus on economic policy), second foreign language (Danish, French or Spanish), law, social studies, religion / philosophy, literature / art / music, physics and sport.

Technical college economics

Completion of the FOS is the advanced technical college entrance qualification, which entitles to study at German universities of applied sciences. Prerequisites for admission to the FOS are a medium-level educational qualification and completed commercial vocational training. Other subjects are economics, politics, religion or philosophy, chemistry, physics, French as an elective and sport.

Vocational college economics

Completion of the BOS is the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) or the subject-related higher education entrance qualification. Other subjects are economics, politics and French or Danish (for the Abitur).

Vocational School III - Commercial Assistants

Building on the secondary school leaving certificate, BFS III provides initial vocational training for commercial and administrative professions in the form of two years of full-time instruction. There is a focus on foreign languages ​​and information processing. Further subjects are business administration, accounting, computer science, technical computer science, economic policy, religion or philosophy and sport.

Vocational school economics

The vocational school provides basic vocational training for commercial and administrative professions in the form of one or two years of full-time instruction and, if necessary, concludes with the secondary school leaving certificate. Whoever has completed secondary school is recorded. Other subjects are business practice, economic geography, business mathematics, politics and religion or philosophy.

Business Vocational school

The commercial vocational school accompanies the commercial training. This type of school is offered for various training courses at the Flensburg Commercial College.

Partner schools

The HLA Flensburg became a European school in 2005 . The Städtische Handelslehranstalt is currently in contact with some schools as part of the new Comenius school project. These are u. a. Northumberland College (Northumberland, Great Britain), Staffangymnasiet (Söderhamn, Sweden) and Business College Syd (Sønderborg, Denmark). There is also contact with Chinese schools.

Learning office

The learning office is a practice firm based in the Am Schlosswall building. Schoolchildren take on the roles of employees of the sample wholesale company FLEGRO GmbH or their customers / suppliers in order to gain insights into everyday commercial work.

Cutter sailing

Cutter sailing is carried out as a class excursion to get to know each other at the beginning of their school days together.

Practice days

The practical days are topic-related presentation days on which students work on practical tasks. Experts (e.g. company employees) from the respective subject areas (e.g. procurement, marketing) also present information from their areas.
