Stéphanie Bouvier (born November 15, 1981 in Dijon ) is a former French short tracker .

At Bouvier's first international start, the 1998 European Championships, she did not achieve a medal, but placed fifth in the 1500 m quite well. At her first participation in a world championship in the same year, however, she was eliminated in the preliminary stages, her participation in the major events in 1999 was also not very successful. After she was nominated for the world cup in the 1999/2000 season , but not over there came out of the first run, she started successfully at the European Championships in 2000, where she reached at least the quarterfinals in three disciplines. She kept this result at the World Cup of the same year.

Nevertheless, Bouvier did not make her international breakthrough until the beginning of 2001, when she initially only barely missed the 1500 m final at the Junior World Championships and then achieved good placements at the European Championships. Since she achieved several podium positions on the individual routes there, she achieved third place overall and thus the bronze medal in the all-around competition. In the 2001/02 season , the Olympic qualification remained the greatest achievement, because Bouvier did not make it into the finals in either the European Championship or the World Cup. In return, she achieved a good sixth place at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City in the 1500 m distance, and at the World Championships she just missed the final.

In the 2002/03 World Cup season, Bouvier only finished several World Cup races in the finals, her best result was even a third place on her special 1500 m course. Overall, she was seventh in the overall World Cup that season and achieved the same result in the 500 m discipline World Cup. She also achieved some good results at major events, including finishing second overall at the European Championships in Saint Petersburg and twice missing the podium by just one place in individual World Championships . In the next season she started internationally in only two World Cup races, which were unsuccessful for her, and a year later she only made one relay finals in the 2004/05 World Cup . Even at the European Championships in 2005 she was unable to win a medal again, but only narrowly missed out on being fourth.

The 2005/06 season was also not very successful for Bouvier in the World Cup, but she managed the second Olympic qualification. Before the Olympic Games, she scraped past the podium in fourth place at the 2006 European Championships in Krynica-Zdrój for the second time in a row. In Turin she could not record any successful results, as well as at the team world championship in Montreal , only the individual world championship in Minneapolis she successfully finished with two fifth places. With two surprising World Cup victories in the 2006/07 season , but in two races in which the best athletes in the world did not start, Bouvier returned to the top international, and she was also overall runner-up at the 2007 European Championships in Sheffield behind the series winner Evgenia Radanova .

In the 2007/08 World Cup , Bouvier was able to post further top 10 results in the World Cup. At the World Championships in Gangneung she was eighth in the all-around competition. In the 2008/09 World Cup season , Bouvier reached the semifinals three times over 1500 m and once over 500 m. At the European Championships in Turin , she was second in the 1000 m, 1500 m and 3000 m and won the bronze medal in the all-around competition.

Since Bouvier was France's only short tracker with international class for a long time, her relay results are accordingly less good. Nevertheless, the French relay achieved successes, including two silver medals at European championships and a final in the World Cup. In their last season 2009/10 Bouvier could not reach the semi-finals in the World Cup. However, she qualified for her third Olympic Games in Vancouver , where she reached the quarter-finals as the best result over 1000 m. In Sofia , Bouvier played her last international competition at the World Cup . Over 1000 m and 1500 m she was able to reach the semi-finals. After the season, Bouvier ended her active career.
