The church Saint-Philippe Saint-Jacques is a Romanesque church in the town of Ligny-en-Brionnais in Saône-et-Loire in the historic region of Burgundy ( France ), which was built in the 12th century.

history

The church of Ligny-en-Brionnais is dedicated to the apostles Philip and James . The choir and apse have been preserved from the first half of the 12th century . The nave was rebuilt in the 19th century. In the Ancien Régime, the parish belonged to the former diocese of Mâcon in the Archdiocese of Lyon .

architecture

The church of Ligny-en-Brionnais is a simple hall structure with a flat wooden ceiling, adjoining the choir and apse. The chorus is of a large ogive with joist connected to the presented semi- columnar with leaf capitals rests. The choir, above which the bell tower is located, is closed by a dome that rests on trumpets .

The south wall of the church was broken open in the 15th century to add two chapels with vaulted ribs .
