St-Pierre (Gironville-sur-Essonne)

The parish church of St-Pierre in Gironville-sur-Essonne , a French commune in the Essonne department in the Île-de-France region , was built between the 11th and 15th centuries. The church, consecrated to the apostle Peter , was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1984 as Monument historique .

The oldest part of the church is the 11th century nave . The Gothic choir from the 13th / 14th centuries Century has a flat degree. In the choir there are still capitals from the time it was built.

The rectangular clock tower on the south side of the 13th century has buttresses and is from a pitched roof covered. A sacristy was added on the same side in the 19th century .

Furnishing

The equipment is worth mentioning:

  • Wooden sculpture of the apostle Peter from the 17th century
  • Marble baptismal font from the 18th century
  • 19th century leaded glass windows made by Atelier Gesta in Toulouse
