The St. Anthony Church in Ortisei in Val Gardena is dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua and is built in the Renaissance style. It stands in the center of the square of the same name. In the Catholic Church, the Protestant service of St. Ulrich was held at times.

The Benefit Church is mentioned for the first time in 1430 in a document from the archive of St. Jacob's Church . The current building was built between 1673 and 1676 and was consecrated in 1680 by Bishop Paulinus Mayr of Bressanone . The construction costs amounted to 1533 Rhenish guilders and 42 cruisers.

In 1874 it was restored for the first time at the expense of Mr. Franz Prinoth, and a second time in 1959 by the restorer Viktor Pitscheider de Menza. From 1985 to 1986 the church was thoroughly restored by the St. Ulrich rifle company through voluntary work and donations.

The onion-shaped tower has 3 bells and is 29 m high. The church is 12.10 m long and 7.2 m wide.

Interior

The main altar is in the Romanesque style with the altar sheet by the Swiss painter Melchior Paul von Deschwanden (around 1850). To the left and right of the altar are statues of St. Ruprecht and St. Ulrich by Johannes Vinatzer (1684). The side altars are decorated with oil paintings by Josef Moroder-Lusenberg and angel heads from the Vinazer school . The baroque pulpit has niches with sculptures of the four evangelists.

High above the cornice hang 12 oil paintings from the 17th century, probably by Josef Miller from Gufidaun, according to Tresl Gruber the paintings by the painter Dengler (or Tegler from Villnöss ?) Are also from Gufidaun. They are scenes from the life story of Saint Anthony.

A Lourdes grotto to the left of the entrance contains sculptures of St. Bernadette in front of Our Lady of Jacob Crepaz .

Other sculptures in the interior are St. Francis by Ludwig Moroder-Lenert (1914), St. Anthony with Paul Moroder's child, painted by Max Stuflesser (1945) and the Trinity by Vinzenz Moroder-Resciesa (1910).

A baroque Saint Nepomuck stands in a niche on the southern outer wall , above the main portal a statue of Saint Anthony.

Stained glass window

Six painted glass windows and a glass rosette above the entrance illuminate the interior. The windows were donated by the Insam-Brida family in 1874. According to the order book of the Tyrolean stained glass, the order for "7 windows with figures in the Renaissance style" was received by the Tyrolean stained glass & cathedral glass hut on August 28, 1874 for the Antonius Church in Ortisei.
