St. Agathen

The Evangelical Lutheran , listed church of St. Agathen , formerly St. Egidius , is in Lehesten , a town in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia . The parish Lehesten belongs to the parish Leutenberg in Kirchenkreis Rudolstadt-Saalfeld the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The hall church from the 15th century, built from rubble stones and provided with corner stones , was destroyed in a fire in 1822. It was rebuilt in 1824-25. The church tower on the north side was not rebuilt until 1829–31. Its foundations go back to the 15th century. The tower has an eight-sided bulbous dome on which a lantern sits, which is crowned by a tower ball . During the renovation in 1909, the church was partially changed. Your slate mansard roof has dormer windows . The nave ends on three sides in the east. The interior has single-storey galleries . The church furnishings are from 1824/25. The organ with 19 registers , divided into two manuals and a pedal , was built in 1907 by Wilhelm Sauer .
