St. Boniface

The Catholic Church of St. Bonifatius in Adelshofen , a district of Eppingen in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg , was built in 1966 according to plans by Paul Nagler .

history

A parish in Adelshofen was first mentioned in 1496. The right of patronage over the old Nazarius church lay with the Lords of Neipperg , who reformed the place .

Adelshofen remained almost entirely Protestant until the Second World War , before numerous Catholic expellees and refugees moved in. Catholic services were initially held in the Protestant parish hall. In 1966 the Catholic parish was able to build the Bonifatius Church as a subsidiary of the Catholic parish in Richen , based on plans by Paul Nagler from Sindelfingen. The use of prefabricated wooden components meant that the construction costs were extremely low. The church was thus a model for some similar church buildings in the Archdiocese of Freiburg .

description

The church is a simple, towerless building with a high pitched gable roof over the choir area , with the glazed gables essentially forming the window areas. Inside, the ceiling is lined with Brazilian pine . The parish hall and sacristy are attached to the church as simple flat roof structures.
