St. Hubertus in Wimbach

The Catholic branch church of St. Hubertus in Wimbach , a local community in the Ahrweiler district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built between 1923 and 1926 and is located on Hauptstrasse.

history

The predecessor of the now listed church, a chapel in the middle of the village , was built in 1820 and demolished in 1926. From this chapel, the 17th century altarpiece was placed in the new church. It has double columns with cranked beams and angel heads. In the middle is a wooden sculpture of St. Hubertus , who together with St. Joseph the church is consecrated .

The bells from the former chapel were also taken over and installed in the tower, which stands 25 meters high next to the church. The four-sided roof of the tower and the hipped roof of the hall building made of quarry stone are covered with local slate . The portal is in front of the main house and has a high gable roof.

In the church there are relics of St. Ludwig and a mission cross commemorating the 1922 mission. The building, which is around 20 meters long and 8 meters wide, could only be financed through donations and with the villagers' own contributions and should be sufficient for the growing number of residents in the future.
