St. Jakob is a settlement from Leutenberg in the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt in Thuringia .

location

The district road 166 leads through the Lemnitz valley and connects the high plateau around the village of St. Jakob with the Munschwitz district to the west after the end of the village and with the federal road 90 in the Sormitztal valley to the west . This plateau is also framed by forest. The districts of St. Jakob and Munschwitz belong to the south- east Thuringian slate mountains and have the same qualities as in the neighboring towns.

history

The year 1436 was determined to be the first documentary mention of St. Jakob. St. Jakob and Munschwitz have a common seal because they have always formed a community. Both places belonged to the Grafschaft Schwarzburg-Leutenberg and after its extinction from 1564 to 1918 to the supremacy of the Grafschaft and the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

The parsonage and school house as well as three linden trees are shown on the seal. At the time of the GDR, the predominantly agricultural places followed the path of East German agricultural policy and also focused on tourism .
