Grünau is a district of the town of Leutenberg in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

Grünau is a green settlement with a suburban character. At the northern exit of the settlement the Sormitz merges with the small Sormitz and both flow together near the federal highway 90 towards the Loquitz and with this the Saale . According to the citizens, only the row of houses closest to the city is Grünau. The Lichtentanne station , built in 1907, and the inn built in 1908 belong to Lichtentanne and other buildings to Rauschengesees . These were the consequences of small states in Thuringia. Now the consequences are resolved. The railway line leads to Wurzbachand Bad Lobenstein .

Grünau was first mentioned in a document on April 30, 1417. According to the residents, Grünau has always been a residential area of Leutenberg.
