history

Population development of Rauschengesees since 2001

The place is over 890 years old. It was first mentioned in 1120 as Ruceschesece. The name indicates a Sorbian origin. In 1596 the place came under the rule of Burgk and in 1616 it became part of the rule of Greiz, the later Reuss / older line . Since then Rauschengesees was an enclave in the Lobensteiner (Principality of Reuss younger line ) and Schwarzburger (Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt ) country. In 1910 the village still had 146 inhabitants.

During the time of the GDR, Rauschengesees belonged to the Lobenstein district in the Gera district . After 1990, it was a member of the Saale-Sormitz-Höhen administrative community until it was incorporated into the district reform in Thuringia on July 1, 1999. Since then, it has been a part of the Remptendorf community .

coat of arms

The municipal coat of arms shows a green tree firmly rooted in a black background, the background of the coat of arms is yellow, and the entire coat of arms has a black (sometimes white) border.

economy

The structure of the place was shaped by its farms during the last centuries. Even during the period of the forced collectivization of agriculture, the farms of the farmers in LPG Type I ( Agricultural Production Cooperative ) remained in private use. The agricultural areas are now partly worked privately again. The main use takes place in the voluntary collective association of the farms. The private use of the forest also plays a major role. Only a few residents are still full-time in agriculture today, most of the employed work in the wood industry in Friesau as well as in other companies in Saalfeld , Kronach or Bad Lobenstein . One of the most important employers in the district is now the Christopherushof Protestant Nursing Home in Altengesees.

The village complex has been renewed in recent years. The townscape is characterized by the houses arranged in the round, the two village ponds in the middle, which are separated by a green area, and a large children's playground. Rauschengesees has its own grocery store. Ecclesiastically belongs to the small town of the Protestant parish Gahma .
